Benemerenti Medal for Kitty Kelly

A very special announcement !!!!!

His Holiness Pope Francis has announced the
award of the Benemerenti Medal to our Parish choir
organist Kitty Kelly. The medal is an honour awarded
by the Pope to members of the Clergy and Laity for
long and exceptional service to the Catholic Church.
It was originally established as an award to soldiers
in the Papal Army. It is a civil decoration now, but is
still awarded to members of the Pontifical Swiss Guards.

We congratulate Kitty on receiving this honour, and thank her for her on-going service to the life of our Parish through her dedication to the ministry of music. Long may that continue. To mark the occasion, a special Mass is being held here next Friday evening (January 24th) at 7pm. The main Celebrant will be Bishop McKeown who, on behalf of the Holy Father, will present Kitty with the award. I hope as many as possible will be able to come and join us for the celebration.
