Sunday 19th April 2020 is Divine Mercy Sunday.
Gospel: St John 20:19-31
On Divine Mercy Sunday we listen to St John’s account of the Gospel story known as the encounter of Jesus with ‘Doubting Thomas’, in which we hear of Christ’s mercy towards the humbled apostle, who did not believe until he had seen and touched those wounds. Reassuringly for all of us, we hear that Jesus did not dismiss or abandon Thomas in his doubts. His reaction to Thomas affirms our faith in His enduring love and mercy, despite our human weaknesses and failures.
In the knowledge that Jesus is with us in these turbulent times in our community and in the nation, and in the midst of so much doubt and fear, we proclaim in faith the words of Thomas to Jesus, “My Lord and my God”.
Fr. Colm will lead the Divine Mercy Chaplet this Sunday at 3.00 pm this Sunday from the Church. You can follow Fr. Colm on the webcam.
