TODAY, 6 DECEMBER, IS THE FEAST DAY OF ST NICHOLAS, PATRON SAINT OF CHILDREN:
We ask God to protect all the children in our parish and keep them safe from harm.
Loving God, we pray through the intercession of St Nicholas that You will guide and protect our children. Keep them safe from all harm. Help them grow to become loving disciples of Jesus in Your sight. Give them strength to always mature into deeper faith I You, and to keep alive joy in Your creation. We ask this through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen. St Nicholas, pray for us.
FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION TUESDAY 8th DECEMBER:
On this Feast Day (normally a Holy Day of Obligation), we celebrate the Conception of Mary who was, from the first instance of Her existence in the womb of Her mother Anne, by a singular grace, privilege and gift from God, preserved from all stain of original sin. This was to prepare Her to be Mother of Jesus, so that the Son of God would come into the world in an immaculate vessel. Please note the Mass schedule for the Feast Day…….
Tuesday: 9.30am & 7.00pm
CHRISTMAS MASSES:
I am proposing to celebrate five public Christmas Masses:
Christmas Day (25th): 7.00am, 9.00am and 11.00am
Please note: Christmas Eve (24th): 6.00pm and 9.00pm are fully booked.
As you know, the Christmas Masses normally attract large numbers. It would be lovely to see a congregation again, but the safety and protection of everyone attending Mass is paramount and, to help with this, I am introducing a ‘ticket’ system for the two days, to ensure that numbers attending will be fairly evenly spread over the five Masses. This system is not something I would like to do on a regular basis but, hopefully, it will be helpful to all of us this Christmas.
To book a ticket(s) for a particular Mass, you should ring or email Lorna at the parish office, 074 9142001: or email: clonleighparish@derrydiocese.org between 10am and 12noon, Monday – Thursday. Lorna will need to know, 1) which Mass you wish to book for, 2) the name of the person booking, 3) the number of family members being booked in, 4) contact number/email, ( Children 7 or under do not require a ticket ) In due course, arrangements will be made so that those who have booked tickets can pick them up at the church.
This system will ensure at least that we will be organised and ready for a Christmas opening. In the meantime, I ask for your prayers for the reopening of our churches and for the safety of everyone. Thank you very much for your co-operation and patience. Fr. Colm.
Date for the Diary:
Confirmation will take place in the parish on Saturday 13th March 2021. Full details will be published in the coming weeks as well as the dates for the Parents Meeting and the Services of Light. Please keep the children in your prayers at this special time on their journey of faith.
Final Flu Vaccination Clinic:
We will be holding a Flu Vaccination Clinic in our Castlefin Health Centre on Tuesday the 15th December 2020. Anyone who has NOT yet received the Flu vaccine and would like to do so please contact the Health Centre to arrange an appointment.
