Parish Newsletter for Trinity Sunday 12th June 2022

SUNDAY 12th JUNE 2022
TRINITY SUNDAY:

The Feast of Pentecost last Sunday concluded our celebration of the Paschal Mystery – the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ, His Ascension into heaven and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Today’s celebration of the Most Holy Trinity brings together all that we celebrate in the Paschal Mystery, uniting the roles of Father, Son and Spirit in the mystery of our faith. We enter into the life of the Trinity at the very start of our faith journey, in the Sacrament of Baptism, being baptised in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Indeed, each time we bless ourselves, we honour the Blessed Trinity. The concept of the Trinity is beyond our human comprehension but if, in faith, we place our focus on living out the values of God’s Holy Word as taught to us in Scripture, then we are in effect seeing and hearing through the eyes and ears of the Trinity and taking ownership of our baptismal call.

PARENTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF OUR 6TH CLASS CHILDREN, PLEASE NOTE:

There will be a ‘Leavers’ Mass in our church for the 6th Class children of our three schools on Thursday of this week (16 June) at 1.30pm. Parents, grandparents, family members and the wider parish community are warmly invited to come along to this Mass and join with me in offering our prayerful support to these children, as they say goodbye to their National School days and prepare to commence their journey through Second-Level education. We pray God’s blessing on them at this time of change in their young lives.

THANK YOU to all the Confirmation children who came along to our 11.00am Mass last Sunday and presented your prayer/drawing that was your representation one of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Your symbols are now on display on the notice board at the back of the church. Well done, to all of you. May you be guided always by the Holy Spirit.

BLESSING OF THE GRAVES tomorrow evening, Monday 13 June, at 7.00pm. Thank you to those who have volunteered their services as stewards. We will have a short meeting after our 11.00am Mass today so that we can organise ourselves in preparation for the Monday evening and, in particular, with this being the first ‘normal’ Blessing of the Graves for me in Clonleigh, that you can familiarise me with the traditional practices. Thank you!

VISITATION OF THE SICK AND HOUSEBOUND will take place this week, as follows, starting at 11.00am:

Monday (13 June): Ballindrait, Tober & Cloughfin

Wednesday (15 June): Rosgier, Coolatee, Porthall & Cavan Hill

Thursday (14 June): Murlog, Lifford, Coneyburrow

Friday (11 February): Letterkenny Road, Croaghan Heights & Drumboy

I would be grateful if family members or neighbours could let those whom they know to be visited aware of the arrangements, if possible. If there is anyone who is normally part of the visitation but does not wish to be visited for any reason, please let me know. Likewise, if there is anyone who is not normally visited but would like to be visited, please let me know and I will be more than happy to bring you the Eucharist.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CHILDREN:

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION NEXT SUNDAY, 19 JUNE, AT OUR 11.00AM MASS

The children of our two schools who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion this year are invited to celebrate the great gift of the Eucharist in their young lives by participating in a Corpus Christi procession at our 11.00am Mass next Sunday, 19 June – Feast of Corpus Christi (the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ). The children are invited to wear their First Holy Communion outfit for this special occasion. They are asked to be at the porch of the church for 10.50am if possible, to be ready to process with me to the front of the church, where they will be seated during Mass. Parents, I thank you in advance for your co-operation.
The Corpus Christi Procession, which I will lead, carrying the Blessed Sacrament, will take place immediately after Mass within the grounds of the church.
Then, after all their hard work, there might be a little treat in store for the boys and girls!

THE SYNODAL PATHWAY OF THE CHURCH:

Our parish synod team is committed to ensuring that the fruits of the parish conversations and contributions are not ‘lost’ and are used to help us in the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for us as a parish. Today, after Mass, a ‘paper’ summary of the findings of the conversations / submissions is available at the back of church: each family is asked to pick up a copy. Further opportunities to meet with parishioners to listen to your views on the findings and to start a process of discerning together in what ways the fruits of the conversations and submissions might lead us as a parish, at practical level, in the months and years ahead, will take place in the autumn.

NOVENA TO THE SACRED HEART: 15 – 23 JUNE 2022:

The Feast of the Sacred Heart is celebrated this year on Friday 24 June. Many people like to pray the Novena to the Sacred Heart in the nine days leading in to the Feast, from 15 – 23 June, ie, starting Wednesday of this week. You are encouraged to pray the Novena in your homes, either privately or as a family, for your special intentions:

NOVENA PRAYER:

You have said, O divine Jesus,
“Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.”
Relying on these promises, I come with confidence during this Novena
to beg of you the favours that I need.

(Pause in silence for your intentions)

From whom shall I ask, Lord Jesus, if not from You,
whose heart is an unfailing source of graces and merits?
Most loving heart of my God, I believe in Your power; I believe in Your knowledge;
I believe in Your personal love for me.
And therefore, O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.

Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be to the Father…….
