SUNDAY 5th November 2023:
THIRTY-FIRST SUNDAY ORDINARY TIME
In Scripture, we hear many titles of Jesus – Jesus the Teacher, Jesus the Preacher, Prince of Peace, Ruler, King, Lamb of God, Bread of Life. Regardless of the title, Jesus’ model of leadership was one of service – the Servant King.

(From the hymn Christ be Our Light, by Bernadette Farrell).

NOVEMBER – MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS:
Eternal Rest grant unto them, O Lord
SACRED SPACE – REMEMBERING OUR LOVED ONES:
Our Liturgy Working Group has created a Sacred Space in our church for the month of November, where you can write the names of your deceased relatives and friends, and place these in the box or basket that you will find at the Sacred Space. They will be remembered during all our Masses in November. You are also invited to light a candle in the church in memory of your loved ones.
DIOCESAN MASS FOR DECEASED CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE:
This Annual Mass will be celebrated by Bishop McKeown in St Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry, next Sunday, 12 November, at 7.00pm. All are welcome. You can also join this Mass live on the St Eugene’s Cathedral webcam. If you would like to have a child or young person remembered at this Mass, please email the name to lizzie.rea@derrydiocese.org or telephone 028 7126 4087.
SACRED SPACE IN OUR HOMES:
You may wish to create a Sacred Space in your home for November in memory of deceased family members and friends. It might include some of the following: photographs or memorial cards, a little box or basket with the names of family members or friends who have died, a crucifix, sacred picture or rosary beads, holy water, a candle (taking care with it, of course!). Autumn leaves might be gathered. Parents, in particular, are asked to involve their children in creating Sacred Space in the home for November.
NOVEMBER PLEDGE:
If you drink alcohol, is this something you might consider? Many people choose to abstain from alcohol for the month of November and offer this prayerful act in honour of their deceased loved ones or for someone they know or love with an addiction. Visit www.pioneers.ie/pray

Our Cemetery Envelope Collection is taken up today. This goes towards the ongoing maintenance costs of our graveyards. Your generosity to this collection will be appreciated. Sincere thanks to the FAS (SOLAS) team for the sterling work that they do throughout the year, in our graveyards and church grounds and at the parochial house.

BOYAGH NATIONAL SCHOOL PREMISES, PORTHALL:
Thank you to all who came along to the information evening in the school on Wednesday. The building is now in the final stages of being handed back to the parish by the Department of Education and it is very much hoped that it will serve as a useful facility for community activities into the future.
If there are any groups who might be interested in hiring the hall for their use, and haven’t yet expressed an interest, please make contact with Lorna in the parish office. Any group using the hall must have their own insurance and members must have up to date vetting. The parish will require a ‘use of parish form’ to be signed (available from the parish office).
Sincere thanks to those who ‘keep an eye’ on the building, and those who helped prepare the building for future use (especially the members of the Lifford Men Shed).
