NOVEMBER – MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS
Eternal Rest grant unto them, O Lord

SUNDAY 12th November 2023:

THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY ORDINARY TIME
In this month of November, when we remember our deceased loved ones in a special way, and we approach the end of the Liturgical Year, the Scripture readings make reference to end times, with teaching on being watchful and being prepared.
In the Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids that we hear today, the bridegroom in the parable is Jesus. The bridesmaids are, in effect, all of us. An important aspect to note is that the ten bridesmaids did not set out as ‘five and five’ (five sensible and five foolish) – all ten set out (as one) as invited guests of the bridegroom. In the same way, all of us are ‘invited guests’ in God’s kingdom. The parable, therefore, speaks to all of us (not half of us). The Gospel invites all of us to be prudent in our response to God’s calling and reminds of our own individual responsibility to ‘be ready’, to ‘be prepared’, to ‘be wise’: “Stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour.”

PADRAIG NAOMH LEIFEAR GAA:

The AGM of the club is taking place on Sunday 26 November, at 6.00pm, in the Club House, The Roughan, Lifford. There will be a number of committee roles to be filled for the incoming year including the role of Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary, as a number of committee members are stepping down from their roles after a long and distinguished service to the club. The club is lucky to have many experienced, loyal and committed volunteers; however, we can never have enough help and we are always looking for more volunteers to put themselves forward to join the committee, the coaching team or to help around the club as we continue to provide sports for our all our teams.

PARENTS OF FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CHILDREN:

Our next Do This In Memory Mass is on Sunday, 26 November, at 11.00am. In this month of November, when we remember in a special way our loved ones who have died, the children are asked to bring a fallen leaf along to this Mass, in memory of a loved one(s) from their family who have died. The children will place the leaves in our special November Prayer Corner for those who have died.

Our Parish Prayer is prayed by the congregation each morning, at our weekday Masses.
I invite you all to make it part of your daily prayer:

God our Father, pour forth Your Holy Spirit on our parish.
Guide us in Your ways, grant us Your vision.
Be our wisdom. Open our hearts and minds to Your Holy Word,
strengthen us with the Holy Eucharist, our food for the journey.
Help us to be people of prayer,
trusting in Your constant presence in the challenges that we face.
With Your help, may our parish always be a place where
Your love is known, Your light shines and our parish families grow together in faith and mission.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

St Patrick, pray for us.
