WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY:

Pope Francis has announced the first World Children’s Day, which will be celebrated in Rome next weekend, 25/26 May. The Pope has sent a Message to all the children of the world, ahead of this very first World Day dedicated to them. In his message, Pope Francis reminds children of the important role they play in families but also in the Church family. He reminds them of the importance of remembering all children who are suffering, including those who are sick but, especially, those who are “cruelly robbed of their childhood” through war and violence. The pope speaks in His Message about the importance of friendship and creating a caring society, one that starts with simple little things, “like saying hello to others, asking permission, begging pardon, and saying thank you.”
The pope speaks in his Message about the importance of being close to Jesus and the importance of prayer: “prayer fills our hearts with light and warmth.” He invites the children to pray to the Father just as Jesus did. “In his language, Jesus called the Father ‘Abba’, which means ‘Daddy.’ Let’s do the same thing!”, says the Pope, adding that in this way we will always feel Jesus close to us.
In the closing words of his Message, Pope Francis reminds all the children that, “God has loved us from all eternity” and invites them to join him in this prayer:
Come, Holy Spirit, show us Your beauty, reflected in the faces of children all over the world.
Come, Jesus, You who makes all things new, You who are the way that leads us to the Father,
Come and remain with us always. Amen.

PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THIS EXAM SEASON:

Lord, pour out your Spirit of wisdom on all students doing exams at this time.
Help them to remain calm, to attend carefully to the questions asked,
to think clearly, to remember accurately and to express themselves well.
Grant that they may reflect the best of the work they have done and the best of the teaching they received.
May your love be upon them, O Lord, as they place all their trust in You. Amen.
