JUBILEE PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK:

Saturday 3 August.  Luxury Coach with Ayton Travel, leaving the church carpark at 7.30am.  Cost: €30 including bus and evening meal.  To book, Tel: James on 085 8767999 or Louise on 086 0567455.
It is hoped that, in this Jubilee Year for our parish, many parishioners will join in our pilgrimage to Knock, where I will celebrate Mass, in the Apparition Church, at 12.30pm.  I very much look forward to our parish pilgrimage.

SINCERE THANKS to everyone who helped make our Mass and Anointing of the Sick such a special occasion for our parish on Monday. Thanks to our Folk Choir, our Altar Servers, the nurses who came to help, those who made themselves available to help people with mobility issues, to Hugh for his help, and to our neighbouring priests who came along to help with the anointing. Most of all, thank you to everyone who came along to the Mass, and to family members who made sure their sick relative or friend could be there. Our Mass with Anointing of the Sick was a special part of our jubilee celebrations and, I have no doubt, brought many blessings upon us.

THANK YOU to everyone who made our Mass of Thanksgiving and Remembrance for the Irish Defence Forces such a special occasion on Friday morning. It was lovely, in this our Jubilee Year, to have the opportunity to acknowledge the service given to our community by the members of the Forces over the years. Thank you to the 28th Infantry Battalion for the Guard of Honour, to those who provided the music both in the church and outside, and to the Catering Corps for continuing the celebration by providing the refreshments afterwards. Thank you to everyone who came along!

DERRY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES: 1 – 5 JULY:

This week (Monday to Friday), the annual Derry Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place. We pray that everyone will travel safely and enjoy these special days of prayer at the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.

I promise to pray for you all, and to light candles for your special intentions, at the Grotto. In return, I ask that you keep all the pilgrims and their intentions in your prayer. You are asked to remember in a special way our parishioners who are taking part in the pilgrimage. Each day of the pilgrimage, you are asked to pray:

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve:
to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus:
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary: pray for us that we may be made
worthy of the promises of Christ! Amen.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. St Bernadette, pray for us.

MARY’S MEALS:

Fr Eamonn Kelly, priest of Raphoe diocese, has been in contact to say, “For the past eleven years, Walks to Knock Shrine have taken place, to raise awareness of, and raise funds for Mary’s Meals. We are now launching Step by Step to Feed the Next Child 2024. We have walks originating in many counties, north and south. All walks go from 7 August to 15 August. We are seeking people to help us create new walks, join us for a day or half day or a few hours, collect, take a sponsor card or promote the walk. It costs €22 to give a child a meal each day in school for a school year and every eleven cents raised provides a meal. If you would like more information or to get involved, I would love to hear from you. My contact details are: Eamonn Kelly (Rev), Parochial House, Convoy, Co Donegal, F93HX2R, eamonnkelly1949@gmail.com or 087 9077985.”

PRAYER FOR THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS:

Holy Spirit, whose guiding presence we find wherever we go,
Protect all who travel this summer and bring them safely to their journey’s end.
Protect our children and young people, surround them with Your loving care,

This we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.
