May he rest in peace.

RETIRED PRIESTS’ COLLECTION:
This annual collection is being taken up at our Masses this weekend. Your generosity will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
INDUCTION CEREMONIES for Fr McCaughey as Parish Priest of Clonleigh, Leckpatrick and Strabane will be conducted by Bishop McKeown at the following Masses:
St Patrick’s, Clonleigh: 10.00am Mass on Sunday 22 September
Leckpatrick – Sacred Heart Church, Derry Road: 11.30am Mass on Sunday 22 September
Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strabane: 7.00pm Mass on Monday 23 September
We look forward to welcoming Bishop McKeown to our parishes. Everyone is very welcome to attend.
This is a time of new beginnings for all of us and Fr Michael asks for your prayers and guidance as, together, we embrace the opportunities and challenges in the weeks, months and years ahead. It is important to realise that all of us – lay, Religious and priestly people – journey together. It is a Church in which we all have a responsibility to share in that call to spread the Good News, to build God’s kingdom. We are all called to follow in that great mission and witness of St Patrick. The priest is here to lead and to guide people in prayer and to celebrate sacramental life of the church. He is here to pray with people. But the priest cannot do so alone and needs the prayers and support of the parishioners.
Please take time to offer a prayer at this particular time as our parish and that of Camus and Leckpatrick come together to form a Pastoral Area. In forming such a Pastoral Area, people are called to work together in various roles in spreading the Good News, in helping to prepare and celebrate the sacraments for young and adult. As the priests called to serve in this area, we assure you of our prayers at this time. St Patrick pray for us.
We pray for each other those words of St. Patrick:
“God’s might to uphold me, God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s word to speak for me, God’s shield to protect me….
afar and anear, alone or in a multitude.”
DERRY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK:

SEASON OF CREATION 1 SEPTEMBER – 4 OCTOBER:
Theme: To Hope and Act with Creation.” (cf Rom 8:22).
In his Editorial Message entitled ‘Opening the Front Door’ of the September 2024 edition of Intercom magazine, Fr Paul Clayton-Lea writes:
“As summer slowly fades into autumn, the harvest and glorious colours and shades of light remind us of the power and grandeur of God’s creation, as well as its fragility. In order to appreciate this wonder, we have to remind ourselves to pause frequently.….In Laudate Deum (1923 art.64), Pope Francis reminds us, ‘Jesus was able to invite others to be attentive to the beauty that there is in the world because He himself was in touch with nature, lending it an attraction full of fondness and wonder. As Jesus made His way throughout the land, He often stopped to contemplate the beauty sown by His Father, and invited His disciples to perceive a divine message in all things.’ With holidays over and busy work and schooldays upon us, we may lose sight of the endlessly renewing power of nature that surrounds us. In his wonderful book, Nature’s Way, A Guide to Green Therapy, Tom Gunning advises us to unlock ourselves from our devices to avoid caging ourselves indoors: ‘We’ve replaced birdsong, pure scents and floral patterns with screens and social media platforms. Green therapy starts with opening your front door.’ If we attend to this self-care, then we can perhaps imagine ways in which we might take care of our Caregiver, and the world of creation.”
St Francis of Assisi, pray for us.
