This final week of Lent offers each of us a unique opportunity to renew our faith at its deepest level as we prepare to recall the events of Christ’s passion, death and resurrection. On Holy Thursday we commemorate the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood. On Good Friday, a day of fast and abstinence, we meditate on Christ’s passion as we venerate the cross. On Holy Saturday the Sacred Triduum culminates with the Easter Vigil when we celebrate the Passover of the Lord and proclaim that Christ has risen. As we renew our baptismal promises we are also invited to renew our commitment to share in Christ’s death and resurrection at Easter and beyond. Loving God, we are the body of your Son in the world today. As we begin our journey to Calvary give us the courage to carry our crosses. Help us to know that when we suffer we share in the suffering of Christ. Give us the faith to believe that with Christ our crosses never end in death but in the resurrection. As we await Easter Day fill our hearts with joy. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ who is our crucified and risen Saviour for ever and ever. Amen. Holy Week: Sacrament of Reconciliation Today, Passion (Palm) Sunday at 6.00 pm, priests will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in Immaculate Conception Church. Everyone is very welcome to come along and ask for God’s great gift of mercy. Lent reminds us of God’s great compassion in that journey of Jesus. Easter, which we prepare to celebrate, reminds us of new life. Let us ask God’s mercy, let us celebrate new life – new beginning. Also, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be celebrated after Morning Prayer in each of our churches on Good Friday and Holy Saturday.Mass of Chrism is celebrated on Holy Thursday in St Eugene’s Cathedral at 10 am.
