Thank You for your generosity to the collection in the last week, which amounted to €2293.40. Thank you also to those who contribute by Standing Order. Envelopes or cash contributions to the collection can be left in the boxes at the back of the church any day of the week. Your ongoing financial support of the parish is much appreciated as it is vital in sustaining our parish.
Visitation of Sick and Housebound:
A note from Fr Colm:
I will resume visitation to those in the parish who are on my monthly sick run, on Monday 10th August beginning at 11.00am. In keeping with guidelines, I will be wearing a face covering and gloves during my visitation. Naturally some people may still be anxious about allowing visitors to their home. If anyone prefers not to have a visit, please let me know.
FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
Saturday of this coming week (15 August) is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, when we celebrate Mary’s assumption, body and soul, into heavenly glory, honouring the fullness and blessedness that was Her destiny. Normally, the Assumption is a Holy Day of Obligation, but the current Holy Day dispensation means that there is no obligation to attend Mass. This year we will have the celebration of Confirmation on that day and we will entrust the boys and girls who are receiving the sacrament to the care and protection of our Blessed Mother Mary.
Mass for the Feast Day will be celebrated on Monday 17th August at our masses at 9.30 am and 7.00 pm.
Queen, assumed into heaven: pray for us.
Upcoming Parish Event:
CONFIRMATION:
I look forward to meeting with the boys and girls this afternoon in the Parish Hall (Lifford) for our registration and preparation time together. Confirmation is a wonderful moment in the life of any parish as we invite our young people to take up their role as full members of our Catholic family. We pray that the Holy Spirit will guide them in the years ahead and deepen their commitment to their faith so that like the apostles of old they will live out their faith with courage and with a deeper awareness of God’s presence in their lives.
Spirit of the Living God fall afresh on us.
For Those Wishing to be Confirmed:
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated in the parish on Saturday 15 August.
Essential:
All young people who wish to present for Confirmation are required to register for the Sacrament this Sunday at a special gathering for preparation which begins at 2.30pm and finishes at 4.30pm.
The young people (NOT parents or sponsors) are asked to come to the Parish Hall in Lifford: the hall is directly beside Lifford National School.
• Each candidate must complete a registration form.
• All candidates for Confirmation will need to have chosen their (Saint) Confirmation name.
• Social distancing will be observed.
• Young people please bring own pen/pencil.
Thornhill Ministries Team will lead the Preparation programme.
Fr Colm will meet and instruct the young people in relation to the ceremony.
The Times for the Confirmation Masses are:
10:30. Murlog National School
1:30. Lifford & Cloughfin National School
Each young persons’ family will be allocated a specific row on the day of the confirmation. I ask that all be in place no later than 10 minutes before the Mass of Confirmation begins.

Also in addition to the webcam, you can listen to our 11.00am Sunday Mass on Finn Valley FM – 95.8FM or worldwide via their website.

Please note that that collection boxes will be available at each Mass so that you can make your weekly contribution.
In order to keep everyone safe, and because some of our parishioners may be a little fearful of coming into a larger crowd, there are two additional Masses in the Summer Schedule. The Bishops have agreed to suspend the ’Sunday’ obligation during this time. To assist people, everyone who is part of our faith community is asked to attend one Mass in the week if you feel able to do so. e.g. You may decide to attend the Monday morning Mass, or the Thursday evening Mass as your weekly commitment to your faith. Those who were in the habit of attending Mass daily, are still welcome to do so.
