Your Parish Newsletter for Sunday 23rd August 2020.
Mass Schedule for the Week ahead:
SUNDAY MASSES:
Vigil Mass: Saturday 6.30pm
Sunday Morning 9.00am and 11.00am
WEEKDAY MASSES:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 9.30am & Monday and Thursday: 7.00pm
All our Masses continue to be live-streamed on webcam: www.clonleighparish.com
Our 11.00am Mass on Sunday is also broadcast live on Finn Valley Radio, FM95.8
The dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains in place at this time.
It is suggested that you attend any one of the above Masses throughout the week.
It is important that you use the hand sanitiser provided as you enter the church, wear a face covering during the services (unless exempt), remain alert to social distancing and follow the signs that are there for your protection. Your co-operation in this is much appreciated.
A reduced weekday Mass schedule will be in place for the week commencing Monday 31 August as I will be attending my annual Retreat (full details of the schedule will be published next week). In the week commencing Mon 7 September, the ‘winter’ weekday Mass schedule will resume – there will be no evening Masses, with the exception of Month’s Mind Masses or first anniversary Masses, where an evening Mass is requested and can be facilitated. Thank you. Fr Colm.
Anniversaries:
We remember in prayer the souls of those who anniversaries occur at this time: Stephen McBrearty, late of The Common, whose Anniversary Mass takes place this Saturday at 6.30pm, and Philomena Gallagher, late of Ballindrait.
CONGRATULATIONS to the boys and girls who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Saturday. We pray that the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit will guide and inspire their choices in life. Sincere thanks to the teachers, ancillary staff, parents, families and all who helped the children prepare for this very special day in their faith journey.
COLLECTION:
THANK YOU for your generosity in last week’s collection. The amount will be published in next week’s newsletter. Envelopes or cash contributions to the collection can be left in the boxes at the back of the church any day of the week.
A message from Bishop Donal to the all parishioners in the diocese:
FACE COVERINGS IN CHURCHES
At this time, both in Northern Ireland and in the Republic of Ireland, the governments have not made mandatory the wearing of face coverings at services of worship.
However, following recent consultations with public health authorities, the leaders of the four main churches in Ireland decided to recommend and encourage the use of face coverings at Masses and other liturgical celebrations, from Sunday 30th August 2020. I am writing to make you aware of this call. While many individuals may decide to wear face coverings in church, it is important to remember that some people are exempted from the wearing of face coverings, even in situations which would otherwise be mandatory, as outlined in the two jurisdictions: https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/coronavirus-covid-19-face-coverings and https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/aac74c-guidance-on-safe-use-of-face-coverings .
+ Donal
UPCOMING PROJECTS IN THE PARISH:
It is hoped to carry out two capital projects in the coming year: extension of the new graveyard and indoor toilets in the church. I am very grateful for the advice, guidance and support of the members of the Parish Finance Council and to John Masterson for his expertise and direction. These projects are currently very much at preliminary planning stage and I will keep you advised of relevant details as and when plans progress.
GROWTH IN PRAYER & REFLECTIVE LIVING:
Drumalis Retreat Centre is hosting this one-year programme, online by Zoom, commencing Monday 14 September, 7.00pm-9.30pm. It aims to provide the tools and space to become attuned to God’s voice in the midst of the clamour of the world. Applications are now being accepted. Tel 048 28276455 (Mon-Fri, 9am–5pm) or email maura@drumalis.co.uk
Details are also available on website: www.drumalis.co.uk
Please remember in prayer in the coming days and weeks our young parishioners, family members and friends who will be receiving results and making important decisions about their future, whether at school, university or in the workplace. May they be guided by the Holy Spirit in the choices that they make. We pray God’s blessing and protection on all our primary school children and on the staff of our schools as they prepare to commence the new school year in difficult and uncertain circumstances.

Monday - Friday Mass at 9:30 am
Monday & Thursday Mass at 7:00 pm

https://clonleighparish.com/webcam-watch-live/
Also in addition to the webcam, you can listen to our 11.00am Sunday Mass on Finn Valley FM – 95.8FM or worldwide via their website.
Please note that that collection boxes will be available at each Mass so that you can make your weekly contribution.
In order to keep everyone safe, and because some of our parishioners may be a little fearful of coming into a larger crowd, there are two additional Masses in the Summer Schedule. The Bishops have agreed to suspend the ’Sunday’ obligation during this time. To assist people, everyone who is part of our faith community is asked to attend one Mass in the week if you feel able to do so. e.g. You may decide to attend the Monday morning Mass, or the Thursday evening Mass as your weekly commitment to your faith. Those who were in the habit of attending Mass daily, are still welcome to do so.
