Parish Newsletter for Sunday 7th August 2022

SUNDAY 7th AUGUST 2022
NINETEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YEAR C):

Following on from the parable of the ‘Rich Fool’ that we heard last week, Jesus’ teaching in today’s Gospel, on getting our priorities in life right, remains undiluted: our focus should not be on building up treasures that are of passing importance, but on building God’s kingdom so that, having lived a life in the love and service of God and one-another, we might one day share in His everlasting inheritance.

MASS SCHEDULE THIS WEEK:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 10.00am. Tuesday: 9.30am

The Rosary will commence twenty minutes before our weekday Mass.

Saturday: Vigil Mass, 6.30pm. Sunday morning: Mass at 9.00am and 11.00am

For those who are unable to come out to church, all our Masses continue to be available on our parish webcam:

WebCam – WATCH LIVE

and our 11.00am Mass is also broadcast live each Sunday on Finn Valley Radio, 95.8FM

Madeline Gallagher (nee McFeely), late of 88 Croaghan Heights, Lifford
As a parish faith community, we offer our sympathy and our prayerful support to Thomas, to Caroline, Aileen, Thomas Jnr and Jamie, to Seamus, Phyllis, Annette and Bell and to the grandchildren and wider family circle and friends of Madeline, whose Funeral Mass took place in St Patrick’s on Friday. May she rest in peace.

THANK YOU, as always, for your generosity in the weekly collection which, on 24 July, amounted to €1,665 and, on 31 July, amounted to €1,552. Sincere thanks also to those who contribute by Standing Order.

VISITATION OF THE SICK AND HOUSEBOUND:

Will take place this week as follows, starting at 11.00am (or at 2.00pm in the event of there being a funeral):

Monday (8 August): Ballindrait, Tober & Cloughfin

Wednesday (10 August): Rosgier, Coolatee, Porthall & Cavan Hill

Friday (12 August): Murlog, Lifford, Coneyburrow Letterkenny Road, Croaghan Heights & Drumboy

Note: the areas normally visited on Thursday will be visited on Friday, this month. Please make your family members or neighbours aware of the arrangements. If there is anyone who is normally part of the visitation but does not wish to be visited, please let me know. Likewise, if there is anyone who is not normally visited but would like to be visited, please let me know and I will be more than happy to bring you the Eucharist.

Please remember in prayer our young parishioners, family members and friends who are awaiting examination results this month and have important choices to make thereafter. We pray:
Lord, pour out Your blessings on all students who are awaiting examination results at this time.
Grant that the results they receive may reflect the best of the work they have done
and the best of the teaching they have received. May they be satisfied that they did their best.
Grant they will be guided by the Holy Spirit as they seek to plan their future,
whether at school, university or in the workplace,
and may whatever path they choose in life bring them happiness.
Thank You for the many talents and gifts You give to our young people and for the opportunity of education.
May Your love be upon them, O Lord, as they place all their trust in You. Amen.
