SUNDAY 21st AUGUST 2022
TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YEAR C):
Each day opens doors to us to take our baptismal call seriously and responsibly, by living well, to the best of our ability, the message of the Gospel. Today, we hear Jesus being asked, “Will there be only a few saved?” Jesus did not reply in numbers, because God’s love is offered to all of us, but He chose to use the question as an opportunity to teach on the cost of discipleship. The “narrow door” to which Jesus refers, therefore, is not about cutting the numbers who will enter God’s kingdom, but it is about using our opportunities each day to grow in discipleship and in relationship with Jesus so that, one day, having truly won a place in heaven, the doors to God’s everlasting kingdom will be open to us.
