Parish Newsletter for Sunday 25th September 2022

SUNDAY 25th SEPTEMBER 2022
TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YEAR C)

In the Parable of The Rich Man and Lazarus, the Gospel this week again appeals to our sense of justice, right, goodness and mercy, in its stark reminder that what we have is God-given, not for the purpose of building up an earthly kingdom for ourselves, but to be used for love of God and neighbour, building God’s kingdom.

If there is anyone who has not had an envelope before and is now in a financial position to start contributing to the weekly collection, please let Lorna or myself know and we will be glad to provide you with an envelope box. The envelope collection is essential to the day-to-day running costs of the parish. Your ongoing faithfulness to the weekly collection is much appreciated.

DO THIS IN MEMORY:

Today, we welcome to our 11.00am Mass the children of our three schools who are due to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in this coming year. This opening Sunday of the Do This In Memory programme is called Enrolment Sunday. The enrolment ceremony, which will take place during Mass, will include the children, their parents/guardians and the congregation.

As a parish faith community, we offer our prayerful support and encouragement to the children and their families as they begin this programme of preparation for the sacraments.

As we look forward to these special days of prayer, blessing and renewal in our parish, I ask that you prepare your hearts and minds by praying our Parish Prayer:

God our Father, pour forth Your Holy Spirit on our parish.
Guide us in Your ways, grant us Your vision. Be our wisdom.
Open our hearts and minds to Your Holy Word,
strengthen us with the Holy Eucharist, our food for the journey.
Help us to be people of prayer, trusting in Your constant presence in the challenges that we face.
With Your help, may our parish always be a place where
Your love is known, Your light shines and our parish families grow together in faith and mission.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen. St Patrick, pray for us.

Do This In Memory:

As a support to programme for the First Holy Communion children, each week in our newsletter, starting this week, we will have a ‘Learning about the Mass’ Corner in our newsletter, with Kath and Qumen helping us to understand the Mass better.

Kath and Qumen are two children preparing for their First Holy Communion and they feature in the book which our children are receiving today, called THUMB.

Kath and Qumen have been finding out all about the Mass, so that they will understand it better for their First Holy Communion. They want to share the things they’ve been learning with all the First Communion children.
