Parish Newsletter for Sunday 6th August 2023

SUNDAY 6th August 2023:

TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD
God of glory, may our eyes, hearts and minds be opened to glimpse Your glory all around us.
May we see it in gift of the creation in which we live, in our brothers and sisters who journey with us in faith,
and in everyone we encounter in our daily lives.
May we give hope and encouragement to those who are discouraged or lonely
and, especially, to those for whom You may seem distant.
God of glory, we thank you for the opportunities we receive, through Your grace, to transfigure our lives. Amen.

PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK:

PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK: Saturday 12 August: Please note that the buses (now fully booked) are leaving the church carpark at 7.30am on Saturday. You are asked to be there early so that everyone can be seated and the buses ready to go at the scheduled time. I am delighted that so many people are joining in our parish pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Shrine and I very much look forward to Saturday. We thank God for the blessings of this pilgrimage day. We will pray in Knock for all our parishioners and, in turn, we ask the prayers of those who are not able to join us on the pilgrimage to keep us in your prayers on Saturday. Our Lady of Knock, pray for us.

Please remember in prayer over the coming days and weeks all our young parishioners, family members and friends who will be receiving examination results and have important choices to make thereafter. We pray:

Lord, pour out your blessings on all students who are awaiting examination results at this time.
Grant that the results they receive may reflect the best of the work they have done
and the teaching they have received. May they be satisfied that they did their best.
Grant that they will be guided by the Holy Spirit as they seek to plan their future,
at school, university or in the workplace, and may whatever path they choose bring them fulfilment.
Thank you for the many talents and gifts You give to our young people
and for the opportunity of education.
May Your love be upon them, O Lord, as they place all their trust in You.
Amen.
