Thoughts on the Gospel

Today Jesus chooses seventy-two other disciples.  He immediately sends them out two by two into the villages to preach the Good News and gives them lengthy and detailed instructions.

Today Jesus sends us forth to preach the Good News.  We may preach the Good News by our word, our example, and our love.  We may preach the Good News by noticing and attending to an individual we encounter.  Often it is the little acts of kindness that have the greatest potential to be a gift to another individual.  We may preach the Good News with a smile or perhaps we spend 10-15 minutes of our time and sit down and listen to a friend who is struggling.  We may hear about a good cause and we decide to contribute to that cause.

In today’s world, we are Jesus’ disciples.  Will our actions, love and care for people demonstrate that we are Jesus’ disciples?  The acts we do may seem very small to us, however, if done with great love, the smallest act may be a great gift to someone you encounter today!

‘The message entrusted to the disciples by Jesus is peace and the nearness of the kingdom of God.’ This same message of peace and justice, forgiveness and healing, and the Good News of God’s kingdom, has been entrusted to the Church down the centuries.

Now it is my turn to witness to it.

Parish of Clonleigh / Pastoral Area Draw Earlier this year the other parishes of Camus and Leckpatrick launched a parish draw respectively. However, it was not possible to do this in Clonleigh/Lifford Parish because of certain legal requirements in seeking a permit. This permit/permission was sought and granted in late April. However, in respect of parishioners and the various events in the past few weeks, the proposal to organise this draw has been  delayed. However, it has now been decided to propose running the draw within Clonleigh Parish and hence part of our pastoral area. The proceeds of this draw are solely for parish use.

The draw will include star prize of a car and in turn, ten months draws of €1,000, €300, €200, €100 x 5 each month.

The total subscription for each ticket is €100 or €10 per month and that subscription covers 10 monthly draws in total. It is proposed, through time, to gather people together to discuss who would be willing to promote this draw among family, friends, work colleagues or neighbours. If willing and interested, please contact Jane: 00353 872944016 or Sharon: 00353 876645241. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
