Your Parish Newsletter for Sunday 30th May 2021:
SUNDAY 30 MAY 2021 – TRINITY SUNDAY
The mystery of God as Three Persons in one Being is beyond our human comprehension: we use finite language to describe that which is infinite. At baptism, however, we have the privilege of entering into the life and mystery of the Trinity. God the Father is our creator, creating us in His own image and likeness. The source of life, He is the goal of our living. In God the Son, the humanity of God was revealed to us through Jesus Christ, sent on earth to reveal God’s plan for salvation to His people. The gift of the Eucharist, given to us by God through His Son, is the divine and everlasting gift that nourishes and strengthens our faith. God the Holy Spirit: in the gift of the Holy Spirit, God became the power and presence that dwells within us, enkindles our faith and leads and guides us back to Him, through Jesus.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

PARISH NOVENA TO THE SACRED HEART – 3 – JUNE 2021:
With June being a month of special devotion to the Sacred Heart, it is my intention that, this year again, for the nine days leading in to the Feast of the Sacred Heart (11 June), we will pray a Parish Novena to the Sacred Heart, from 3 – 11 June. Last year, your participation had to be ‘online’ but, with our church now being open for public worship, I very much look forward to having you join me in the church for our Novena this year. It will, of course, be ‘live’ on our webcam, for those who are unable to come along to the church. Everyone is most welcome to join in. As we begin to emerge from the pandemic that has changed our world, including our traditional faith practices, in a way that we could never have imagined, I know that many people have very special hopes, prayer intentions and petitions at this time. During our Novena, our united prayer will be placed in the hands of the Sacred Heart each day. Full details of the schedule for the Novena will be published next week. I very much look forward to sharing these special days of grace and prayer in our parish with you.
CATHOLIC READING:
Starting this weekend, we will have a small number of copies of the Irish Catholic available for purchase at each of our Masses. The cost is €2. Thank you to those who have volunteered to serve as promotor at our Masses. I am aware that the Irish Catholic is sold locally in some of our shops, which is great. If you purchase it there, please carry on doing so. However, if you are not already a reader of the Irish Catholic, I would invite you to consider purchasing it at one of our Masses. It is a weekly publication, providing a mix of Catholic and Church news, analyses and informed commentary about the Church and social issues that affect Ireland and the wider Church and world.
As we enter June, month of devotion to the Sacred Heart, it is also my hope that we will be able to sell the Sacred Heart Messenger in our church. It is a monthly publication of Irish Jesuit spirituality. Easy to read, it contains a great variety of insightful interviews, prayerful reflections, popular regular features, including gardening, recipes and puzzles for children and, recently, has expanded to include Re-Link, a supplement with interviews and articles aimed at young people, especially Junior Cert exam students. I am hoping to get some sample, complimentary copies of the June edition in the coming week, which will be available for you to pick up in the church.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION:
It is now intended that Confirmations in the parish will be celebrated on the weekend of 4 & 5 September. The schools will have been in contact with the parents on their school message board. Full details later. Apologies for all the confusion and uncertainties regarding dates, brought about by ever-changing guidelines and restrictions being issued. We fully appreciate, however, that these have been issued in the best interests of everyone’s safety and protection, and the situation continues to be monitored. Thank you for your patience.
CHARITABLE DONATIONS (GIFT AID) SCHEME:
Sincere thanks again to those who returned CHY3 forms to me during the past week. It is very much appreciated. I invite anyone who may be eligible but has not yet signed up, to consider doing so. Remember, there is no extra cost to you!

MAY – MONTH OF MARY:
Huge thanks to all who adorned the May Altar in our church this month, in honour of Our Lady. I pray that Our Blessed Mother will intercede and that your prayers and petitions will be answered in accordance with God’s holy will. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
We honour the Blessed Trinity every time we bless ourselves – In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Blessing ourselves is a natural start and finish to prayer; it is, indeed, a prayer in itself. Many of us were taught to start and end each day with the Sign of the Cross. May this teaching be our practice every day as we strive to grow in the image and likeness of God our Creator. May it be a practice that, through our daily example, we will teach to the next generation.
