Thanks to Hugh, the church will continue to be ‘fogged’ and cleaned each day, after use. Thank you very much for your co-operation.

As a parish faith community, we offer our sympathy and our prayerful support to Hugh, Ambrose, Dermot and Adrian, to the daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sister (Eileen) and the wider family circle and friends of George, whose Funeral Mass took place in St Patrick’s on Tuesday. PARISH OFFICE – TEMPORARY CHANGE FOR SUMMER MONTHS:

Please note that, for the months of July and August, the parish office will be closed on Mondays but will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as normal.

FOR ATTENTION OF THE PARENTS OF THE SACRAMENTAL CHILDREN:

Dear Parents,

I would ask that, as part of the children’s preparation for First Holy Communion and Confirmation, each family will make a special effort to attend Mass in our church. In particular, I would ask parents to bring the children along each week to one of our three Sunday Masses (Vigil, Saturday 6.30pm, Sunday morning, 9am and 11am). The children are preparing for very important milestones in their faith journey, and all of us who teach and encourage them in the faith have a responsibility to ensure that the children are very familiar with the church and the celebration of Mass, and are adequately prepared to receive the sacraments. I very much look forward to seeing and welcoming the children and their families at one of our Sunday Masses each week. Many thanks. Fr Colm.

FUNDRAISING:

I would welcome volunteers who would be interested in becoming part of a parish fundraising working group, along with members of the Parish Finance Council, so that we can raise some funds towards the costs of the upcoming projects. I would be very grateful if you would give this matter your consideration and please let me know if you are interested.

CONGRATULATIONS:

As a parish faith community, we offer our congratulations and good wishes to Ciarnan Maguire and Lee-Anne McMonagle, who were married in St Patrick’s last Saturday.

IRISH CATHOLIC NEWSPAPER is available in the church this weekend for sale. Thank you to those who purchase it and to those who promote it at each of our Masses. The cost is €2.

SACRED HEART MESSENGER:

Last call for anyone would like to receive the Messenger magazine each month – please let me know this week or contact Lorna in the parish office and she will be pleased to take your order.

PRO-LIFE RALLY:

Inishowen National Pro-Life Rally at Buncrana, Saturday 3 July at 1.30pm. Assembly point: Nailer’s Row (opposite the Credit Union).

LOUGH DERG regrets that it will not be possible in 2021 to reopen for the traditional Three Day Pilgrimage, but is happy to offer the opportunity to everyone to “do Lough Derg from wherever you are” this year again from 3 – 5 July. To register, contact Lough Derg by phone 071 9861518 or email info@loughderg.org. The outdoor Pilgrimage on the Lough Shore Pilgrim Path will also be available as the summer goes on. Visit website: www.loughderg.org.

ANNUAL CROAGH PATRICK PILGRIMAGE: – REEK SUNDAY:

This year, an extended version of Reek Sunday will be available for the month of July, from Wednesday to Saturday each week. Mass on the summit (weather permitting) Wednesday-Friday at 12.00noon and on Saturdays at 10.00am. Confessions heard before and after Mass.

As the school holidays begin and holiday season starts, we hope and pray that all our school-children and young people will enjoy a happy and safe summer holiday.

I urge everyone to take care on the roads and enjoy safe travel when you are out and about. And, of course, protect yourself and others by adhering to the Covid restrictions and recommendations that are in place.
PRAYER

Holy Spirit, whose guiding presence we find wherever we go,
Protect all who travel this summer
and bring them safely to their journey’s end.
Protect our children and young people,
Surround them with Your loving care,
and help them to recognise danger.
This we ask through Christ our Lord, Amen.
