TROCAIRE:

Final appeal for outstanding Trocaire contributions: we hope to be in a position to remit our parish total to Trocaire by the end of this week.  Thank you.

On Wednesday of this week, we enter the month of May, a month of special devotion to Our Lady. It is a tradition of our faith that we express, in some special form, the importance of Mary, model in faith, in our homes during May: we can make special efforts to pray the Family Rosary each evening or a decade of the Rosary or perhaps pray the Angelus or some other short Marian prayers. The May Altar is a great way for children to become actively involved in honouring Our Lady at home. May Altars can be created very simply, with a clean white cloth, a statue of Our Lady, Rosary beads, a small bottle of holy water and some flowers. Parents are encouraged to pray with their children each day at the May Altar.

We will have a May Altar in our church. During the month, you are invited to honour Our Lady by bringing along some flowers or plants to adorn the May Altar in the church. Again, parents are invited to involve their children in this practice. (Any vases/containers that you leave will be kept for you).

DIAMOND JUBILEE OF ST PATRICK’S, CHURCH:

I very much look forward to our Jubilee Celebrations next Sunday, 5 May, when Bishop McKeown will celebrate our 10.00am Mass. Please let family members and natives of the parish who now live elsewhere, but might like to attend this Mass, aware of it.

This will be a very special day for you, the parishioners of Clonleigh, and a great milestone in the life of the parish. It is indeed an opportunity to thank the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents of this parish for handing on the gift of faith, for nurturing the treasure of parish faith community, and for making our lovely church a place of worship where all are welcome. I extend a special invitation to all generations of our parish to come along to our Jubilee celebrations next Sunday morning.

Everyone will be very welcome over in Murlog school after Mass, to continue the celebrations over tea. Bishop McKeown will join us for photographs, conversation and refreshments in the school and we look forward to seeing you all there.

A special Jubilee Contribution envelope will be available at the back of the church today and over the next number of weeks. If you would like to contribute to the costs attached to our Jubilee Year celebrations, then please pick up an envelope. You can return it, at your convenience, via the weekly collection basket, to the sacristy before/after any of our Masses or to the Parochial House. While this is not an ‘official parish collection’ at all, it is hoped that a number of people/families will take up the opportunity to assist in meeting the costs attached to this very special year in our parish. You do not need to identify yourself/your family on the envelope but, if your contribution is in an individual name and you are registered for the Charitable Donations Scheme (Gift Aid), you may wish to put your name on the envelope/inside the envelope, and your donation can then be treated as eligible for inclusion in the Scheme. Thank you!
